BMW M5 India: The BMW M5, now in its seventh generation, is available in India as a CBU. BMW India has launched the new BMW M5 at a price of Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom). The seventh generation of the high-performance sedan is available in completely built unit (CBU) avatar in India.
The new version gets a hybrid powertrain for the first time in the history of the M5. The new M Hybrid system is paired with the S68 4.4-litre V8 engine.
The twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces 585hp and 750Nm of torque. Paired with a 145kW (194hp) electric motor, combined output reaches 727hp and 1,000Nm of torque.
BMW claimed that this car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. Power is delivered to all four wheels with the xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
BMW has an updated front end of the new M5 with twin headlights and a kidney grille. Adaptive LED headlights, included as standard, feature a classic four-eyed design. The redesigned kidney grille finished in glossy black is almost completely enclosed, with a double bar running around it, bearing the M5 badge. The wide wheel arches and sculpted surfaces around the grille, headlights and air intakes give the car a bold look.
The side profile of the new M5 has a refreshed design, with all the body panels including the front and rear wheel arches being redesigned. The carbon fiber roof, which is 30 kg lighter than the variant with the panoramic sunroof option, helps reduce weight and lowers the car’s center of gravity. Additional features include a rear spoiler, twin exhaust pipes and 20-inch mild alloys at the front, while there are 21-inch alloys at the rear.
The interior of the new BMW M5 comes with leather upholstery as standard. Key features include a three-spoke steering wheel with red center markers and illuminated M buttons and a customized center console. The cabin features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a head-up display, all with special M-themed graphics. Other features include ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with a 655-watt amplifier, and a wireless charging pad.
Safety features of the car include antilock braking system (ABS), integrated differential with caution assist and dynamic stability control (DSC). Additional systems include Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), active roll stabilization with active roll comfort, Performance Control, an electric parking brake with auto-hold function, an electronic vehicle immobilizer, crash sensors and ISOFIX mounts.
