Brazilia: Brazilian President Lula D-Silva called Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday amid tariff wise in America and India. He spoke to PM Modi on several other issues including American tariffs for about one 1 hour. The President has shared the full details of the conversation on his X account. He described India and Brazil as the most affected country with American tariffs.
Brazil with India against American tariff
Brazil stands with India against Unilateral Tariff of America. President Lula wrote on his X account, “I called India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. In this conversation that lasted about an hour, we remembered the important achievements of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Brazil on 8 July. We discussed the issue of the international economic landscape and unilateral tariffs being installed. So far, Brazil and India are two countries which have been the most affected by this tariff.
Both countries to deal with challenges
The Brazilian President further wrote that we agreed to explore the possibilities of more integration between the two countries, with the importance of protecting multilateralism and the need to deal with the challenges of the present situation. In this context, we confirmed the event of Brazil’s visit to India earlier next year. As part of the preparation of this journey, we decided that Vice President Jeraldo Alkmin will visit India in October, when there will be a meeting of trade monitoring mechanisms. This delegation will include Brazilian ministers and businessmen, who will discuss cooperation in the areas of trade, defense, energy, important minerals, health and digital inclusion.
India-Brazil will increase trade
Lula wrote that we also recalled the target of exceeding US $ 20 billion by 2030 by 2030. In this direction, we agreed to increase the scope of agreement between Mercosur and India. We also exchanged information about the virtual payment platform of both countries i.e. PIX of Brazil and UPI of India. In addition, we discussed the successes of the BRICS summit held in Brazil and reiterated the commitment to work together for the next chairmanship of this organization, which will be handed over to India.

PM Modi has also mentioned the phone talks with the President of Brazil on his X account. He wrote, “There was a good conversation with President Lula. Thanked him for making the Brazilian visit memorable and meaningful. We are committed to further depth our strategic partnership including business, energy, technology, defense, health etc.. A strong, public-centric partnership between the countries of the global South is beneficial for all.”
