The Thailand police on Tuesday arrested a woman for allegedly instigating several Buddhist monks to having sex and then pressurizing them to give huge amount in lieu of hiding this intimacy. The possible violation of the celibacy law of monks has created a stir in Buddhist institutions in recent weeks and attracted people’s attention in Thailand. ‘Royal Thai Police Central Investigation Bureau’ said that at least nine Buddhist monks and senior monks involved in the scandal have been removed from the post of monks.

Woman who provoked Buddhist monks to have sex arrested

Nearly 35 -year -old Villavan Amsavat was arrested for forcibly recovery, money refinement and stolen goods from his house in Nondthburi province north of the capital Bangkok. Police said the funds sent by a senior monk to the account of Villan Amsavat from a bank account of a Buddhist temple in North Thailand have also been detected. Since the arrest, Villan has not made any statement and it is not clear whether there is a lawyer to represent it. Before his arrest, Villavan had accepted one such relationship and said that he had given money to that Buddhist monk.

Police said Villavan deliberately targeted senior monks for financial benefits. Police found that several monks had transferred a huge amount to him after Vilavan started a love affair with these Buddhist monks. Police said that in the last three years, the amount of US $ 1.19 crore was received in Villavan’s bank account but most of it was spent on the online gambling website. Jarunkiyat Pankev, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, said the investigation began last month when a senior monk of a famous Bangkok temple in Bangkok suddenly quit his post.
