Bullet Train: It will take only 2 hours time, 320 km per time to reach Ahmedabad from Mumbai

Central Reviewing the railway development in Gujarat on Sunday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that India’s first bullet train service running between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will start soon. The Railway Minister has made this announcement amid the speed in construction work on the 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor. Giving information about the bullet train project on Bhavnagar Terminus, the minister said that the bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will run at a maximum speed of 320 km per hour.

Travel to Mumbai-Ahmedabad will be completed in 2 hours and 7 minutes

The Railway Minister flagged off 3 new trains-Bhavnagar-Ayodhya Express, Rewa-Pune Express and Jabalpur-Raipur Express from Bhavnagar Terminus on Sunday. He said that the bullet train journey between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is expected to be completed in 2 hours and 7 minutes. The MAHSR Project is being developed in collaboration with Japan and its funding is being done mainly through funds received from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Of the total estimated cost of ₹ 1,08,000 crore, JICA is providing financial assistance of around ₹ 88,000 crore, which is around 81 percent of the project cost.

These 12 stations will be on Mumbai and Ahmedabad bullet train corridors

There will be a total of 12 stations on the Mumbai and Ahmedabad bullet train corridors- Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati. The line will start from Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai and end at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad.

Trial starts on Gujarat section

Before this corridor is completely operational, trial runs are expected to begin on its Gujarat section. The Railway Minister also exited several new projects in Gujarat, including a new train between Porbandar and Rajkot, coach maintenance facility at a cost of ₹ 135 crore, a railway flyover in Porbandar at a cost of ₹ 135 crore, a railway flyover in Porbandar, 2 speed power cargo terminal and a developing port in Bhavnagar.
