The strike of the employees of the Road Transport Corporation has started in Karnataka. Transport staff of all four road transport corporations (KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC) of the state have decided to go on a statewide strike from today with their various demands. The security of the state has been increased due to the strike. All these organizations have decided to stay away from the work of their employees. Due to this, people will have to face many inconveniences today.
High court gave this order
The Karnataka High Court on Monday passed an interim order in which the Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation employees (JAC) had directed the postponement of its proposed strike by Tuesday.
Know what the Transport Minister said?
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that everyone should follow the directions of the High Court. He said, ‘Can employees violate the court order? Are they above the court? The state government will bring it to the notice of the court. He further said that all four RTC managing directors have been instructed to run services as per the scheduled schedule.
More than 40 lakh passengers travel daily
Explain that KSRTC, its north-eastern and north-western branches and BMTC together provide transport facility to more than 1.1 crore passengers. More than 40 lakh passengers travel daily from BMTC alone.
This is the demand of employees
Road Transport Corporation employees are demanding outstanding salary of 38 months (from January 2020 to February 2023). Its estimate is around Rs 1,785 crore. The Government of Karnataka announced a 15% increment in 2020, but this dues have not yet been paid.
