Central The cabinet on Wednesday approved two railway projects passing through seven districts of Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, which cost Rs 6,405 crore. Both these railway projects were approved in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One of the approved projects is related to the doubling of the 133 km long Koderma-Barkakana track. This track not only passes through a major coal producing area of ​​Jharkhand, but is also the smallest and most competent rail connectivity route between Patna and Ranchi.

Doubling of Bellary-Chikajajur track

The second project is to doubling the 185 km long Bellary-Chikajajur track. This track passes through Bellary and Chitradurga districts in Karnataka and Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. According to an official statement, the approved multi-tracking project will increase rail connectivity to about 1,408 villages. The total population of these villages is around 28.19 lakhs. The government said in the statement, “These rail routes are necessary for the transport of goods like coal, iron ore, ready steel, cement, fertilizer, agricultural and petroleum products. An increase in their capacity will lead to additional freight of 4.9 million tonnes per year. ”

The increased capacity of the railway line will significantly increase transportation, which will improve the operational efficiency and service credibility of Indian Railways. These multi-tracking proposals have been designed to streamline railway operations and reduce congestion. The government said that these projects are in line with Prime Minister Modi’s new India’s perspective, which will make the local people ‘self -sufficient’ through widespread development and will increase employment and self -employment opportunities for them. The Ministry of Railways said that these projects are the results of PM-Mati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-dimensional contacts, which have been possible through integrated scheme. This will provide uninterrupted contact facility for the movement of people, goods and services.

Rail network will increase by 318 km

The ministry said, “Two projects incorporating seven districts of Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh states will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 318 km.” The Ministry said that these projects will help reduce the country’s logistic cost, reduce the logistic cost of the country, reduce the oil imports by 52 crore liters and cut the carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to planting 264 crore kg.
