Virat Kohli: He gained fame under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, became a match-winner in white ball cricket and recorded his name as a record-breaking bowler in IPL history. Nevertheless, this player is out of the list of coach Gautam Gambhir.

In Gambhir’s coaching, this player is being ignored repeatedly, his journey reminds that the pride of the past does not guarantee future opportunities.

The player we are talking about is some other nah but Yuzvendra Chahal (Yuzvendra Chahal), who made his international debut in 2016 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Chahal became India’s limited overs weapons with his impressive leg-spin performance.

Chahal’s continuous good performance brought him regular positions in India’s ODI and T20 international teams. He played 72 ODIs, taking 121 wickets at an average of 27.13, and played 80 T20 international matches, taking 96 wickets at an average of 25.09.

Popularity declines after Kohli era

After leaving the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Chahal’s appearance in the playing eleven decreased. Despite being selected in the team for big tournaments like T20 World Cup to be held in 2022 and 2024, he did not play a single match.

He was excluded from major tournaments like Asia Cup 2023, ODI World Cup 2023 and the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Chahal seems to be out of popularity, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and now Gautam Gambhir’s team planning.

IPL giants but future uncertain in national team

Although his international career now looks uncertain, Chahal is keeping his glow in the IPL. With 221 wickets (till 2025) in 174 matches, he is the most successful bowler in IPL history.

His memorable hat -trick for RR in 2022 is one of the most popular moments in recent league history. Despite his unmatched talent and heritage, the selection process for Gautam Gambhir to be excluded from the vision raises questions on future plans.
