The Congress government has suffered a major setback in Karnataka. The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered a CBI inquiry into the Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scam. Till now the CBI was allowed to investigate only the special irregularities related to this scam, but the High Court has now ordered a comprehensive investigation into the entire case.
The scope of investigation increased
The court has directed the SIT investigating the case to hand over all the records of the investigation to the CBI. This has increased the scope of investigation. Many flaws will come out in the CBI investigation.
Raids were conducted on the locations of Congress MPs and MLAs
In June, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Congress MP E Tukaram from Ballari and three MLAs from Karnataka in connection with the money laundering investigation related to the alleged Valmiki scam.
