CCTV cameras will be installed in all the coaches and engines of the train, a big decision of the Ministry of Railways

Indian Railways has taken a major step to ensure the safety of passengers. Railways have decided to install CCTV cameras in all passenger coaches. It has been announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He said that giving priority to passenger safety, he has directed to install CCTV cameras in all 74,000 coaches and 15,000 engines of Indian Railways.
This important decision was taken on Saturday after reviewing the benefits of CCTV cameras installed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu in Northern Railway. According to a statement issued by the ministry, CCTV cameras will be installed mainly in areas with normal traffic to ensure passenger privacy.
Where will the cameras be installed in the train?
- passenger compartment: A total of four CCTV cameras will be installed in each railway coach, each of which will have two cameras on the entrance.
- Rail Engine: Six CCTV cameras will be installed in each engine. These will include one camera on the front, back and either side of the engine.

Let us know that Indian Railways is one of the largest rail networks in the world. Indian Railways operates more than 13,000 passenger trains on an average daily, including mail/express, passenger and suburban trains. About 2.4 crore passengers travel daily from Indian Railways.
CCTV cameras help prevent theft, molestation, harassment and other criminal activities. CCTV footage can help understand the event of an emergency, such as medical emergency, fire or any accident, and can help the authorities respond quickly and effectively.
