Shangri-la dialogue 2025: After licking Pakistan in Operation Sindoor, India is now exposing Pakistan on the diplomatic front. India’s seven delegation are exposing the nefarious plans of Pakistan by going to countries around the world. Meanwhile, the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan will also participate in the Shangri-La dialogue 2025 starting in Singapore today. In this dialogue, military officers from more than 40 countries will discuss the Indo-Pacific security challenges.
How long will the program last?
The CDS Anil Chauhan will hold bilateral meetings with chiefs and senior military leadership of several countries including Australia, European Union, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, UK and USA during the three -day event. Along with this, the Chief of Defense Staff will also address academics, think tanks and researchers.
Who organizes Shangri-La dialogue?
The Shangri-La dialogue is one of the most important international conferences associated with the security of the Asia-Pacific region. It is an annual defense conference in which defense minister, military officers, policy makers, strategic experts and representatives of the think tank participate. It is organized by IISS – International Institute for Strategic Studies.
When did Shangri-La Dialogue start?
The main objective of the Shangri-La dialogue is to promote open discussions on defense and security matters in the Asia-Pacific region. This is a platform where countries discuss mutual cooperation, strategic issues, regional tension and global security threats. The dialogue started in 2002 and is named after the famous ‘Shangri-La Hotel’ in Singapore, where the conference is held every year. The name of Shangri-La represents a place like a fictional paradise from Moolus, which is a symbol of peace and balance.
Why is the role of Shangri-La dialogue important?
Shangri-La dialogue is a big platform to increase trust and communicate between countries. Its role looks even more important due to issues such as Ukraine War, Tension in the South China Sea, Taiwan issue, cyber security and global supply chain. This platform gives those countries an opportunity to talk face to face, between which the scope of direct dialogue is less.
