TCS Layoffs News: The Ministry of Information Technology is keeping a close watch on the situation after the announcement of trimming more than 12000 employees in the country’s largest IT service company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The Ministry of Information Technology is concerned about this development and will investigate it to understand the real reason behind this decision. The move will have the most impact on medium and senior level employees. The total number of TCS employees was 6,13,069 by 30 June 2025. It had increased its number of employees by 5,000 in the recently ended June quarter.

Official sources gave this information on Monday. Sources said that the ministry is keeping a close watch on the entire situation in the TCS case and is constantly in touch with the company. According to sources, the Ministry of Information Technology is concerned about this development and will investigate it to understand the real reason behind this decision.

The government’s attitude is important in the sense that India’s largest IT service company TCS has announced the trimming of 12,261 employees this year which is two percent of its total global workforce. The move will have the most impact on medium and senior level employees.

The total number of TCS employees was 6,13,069 by 30 June 2025. It had increased its number of employees by 5,000 in the recently ended June quarter. The TCS said in a statement on Sunday that the decision to lay down is part of the comprehensive strategy of becoming a ‘future ready -made organization’. Its center is invested in adopting technology, artificial intelligence (AI), market expansion and workforce reorganization.

The Tata group company said, TCS is on the direction of becoming an organization ready for future. This includes strategic initiatives on several fronts including investment in new technology areas, access to new markets, using AI on a large scale for their customers and themselves, deepening their partnerships, building the next generation infrastructure and restructuring your workforce model.

The company said, “Initiatives for making freshly efficient and re -employment are going on in this direction. In this sequence, the associates whose deployment may not be viable from the organization. This will have an impact on our medium and senior level global workforce. TCS has assured to give proper benefits to employees who are victims of retrenchment, cooperate in finding new jobs, give consultation and support. (Language)
