The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh has arrested Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. According to news agency ANI, the arrest has been made in the money laundering case related to the liquor scam.
ED produced Chaitanya Baghel in the Special Court of Raipur. The court has sent Chaitanya on 5 days remand of ED till 22 July. Many big leaders including Bhupesh Baghel, Charandas Mahant, Mohammad Akbar were present in the court.
Before this, Bhupesh Baghel posted on X and wrote- ED came. Today is the last day of the assembly session. For Adani, the issue of trees being cut in Tamanar was to be raised today. ‘Saheb’ has sent ED at Bhilai Niwas.
While going to the assembly, Bhupesh Baghel said- Ed was sent to ED on my birthday last time. This time on my son’s birthday, Modi-Shah has sent ED to please his boss. Bhupesh Baghel will not bow nor scare. Today the issue of Adani will arise in the assembly, so ED has been sent.
Know what is the liquor scam of Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh is investigating the ED in the liquor scam case. ED has lodged an FIR in ACB. In the lodged FIR, there is talk of scam of more than 2 thousand crore rupees.
The ED in its investigation found that during the tenure of the then Bhupesh government, the scam was carried out through the syndicate of IAS officer Anil Tuteja, Excise Department MD AP Tripathi and businessman Anwar Dhebar.
