- Bihar dairy scheme 2025: The Bihar government has taken a major initiative to empower the unemployed youth and farmers of the state towards self -employment. The dairy industry is being promoted through schemes related to cow and buffalo rearing being run by the Department of Animal and Fisheries Resources. Under these schemes, the beneficiaries are being provided a grant of up to 75% at the cost of dairy unit.

- Composite buffalo rearing scheme 2025-26
- Under this scheme, beneficiaries are being given grants to buy milch buffaloes of 1 or 2 advanced breed.
- 1 buffalo cost: ₹ 1,21,000
- Cost of 2 buffaloes: ₹ 2,42,000
- 75% grant to SC/ST class, 50% to others
- SC/ST: ₹ 90,750 (1 buffalo), ₹ 1,81,500 (2 buffaloes)
- To general category: ₹ 60,500 (1 buffalo), ₹ 1,21,000 (2 buffaloes)
- Indigenous cow slaughter incentive scheme
- Under this scheme, beneficiaries can set up dairy units of 2 or 4 advanced breed cows/calves.
- 2 cow unit: ₹ 1.74 lakhs cost
- 4 cow unit: ₹ 3.90 lakhs cost
- 75% to SC/ST and extremely backward class, 50% to others
- Overall sequence development scheme
- The scheme is based on the unit of 2, 4, 15 and 20 milch cattle/calves.
- 2 cattle – ₹ 1.74 lakhs cost
- 4 cattle – ₹ 3.90 lakhs cost
- SC/ST and 75% for Backward Classes on these, 50% to others
- 15 Cattle – ₹ 15.34 Lakh cost
- 20 cattle – ₹ 20.22 lakh cost
- 40% grant is available to all classes on these
- 6321 applications received so far
- According to government data, a total of 6321 applications have been received so far under these schemes, out of which 2238 applications have been made by women.
