Char Dham Yatra: 5 interesting things about Gangotri and Yamunotri
The journey of Char Dham in Uttarakhand has started from Akshaya Tritiya i.e. 30 April 2025 on Wednesday. The journey begins with Yamunotri. After Yamunotri, Gangotri, then Kedarnath and finally Badrinath visit. The doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri will open on 30 April. Kedarnath Dham’s fraud will open on 02 May 2025 at 07 am, Badrinath’s doors will open on 04 May 2025. You can visit Yamunotri and Gangotri on 30 April. You can visit Kedarnath on 2 May, Badrinath on 4 May and Hemkund Sahib on 25 May.
Yamunotri:
1. Yamunotri is first visited. Yamunotri is considered to be the origin of the Yamuna River. The doors here open on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.
2. The river Yamuna originates from a mountain called Kalind. Due to the origin of the river from Mount Kalind, people also call it Kalindi.
3. There is a temple of Yamunaji in Yamanotri. After fixing the road of 220 km from Rishikesh, the climb of Yamanotri starts from a place called Phoolchatti. Devotees can reach Phoolchatti by bus or private vehicle as per their desire.
4. Yamuna river joins the Ganges along with the Ganges and joins the Ganges in Prayag.
5. Yamuna River is the largest tributary of the Ganges in the northern part of India.
Gangotri:
1. There is a place called Gangotri in Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand, which is considered to be the origin of the Ganges river.
2. The river Ganges touched the earth here. Due to the effort of Rishi Bhagirath, Ganga first seated Shivji’s jatas and then moved forward by making the main stream from Gangotri.
3. But he originates 19 km from Gangotri and above a mountain called Shrimukh. There is a Gomukh -shaped tank from which the Ganges stream is broken. It is said that Shiva left Ganga in this Gaumukh with his jatas.
4. A holy and ancient temple of Mata Ganga is also built in Gangotri. You arrived here after visiting Yamnaji in Yamunotri.
5. Ganga temple and Surya, Vishnu and Brahmakund etc. are the holy places here.
