Faizan was arrested by a team of Mumbai Police after initial questioning in Raipur. Cops are now planning to bring him to Mumbai for further questioning. A phone number registered on Faizan’s name was reportedly used to threaten actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Mumbai: Police have arrested a Chhattisgarh-based lawyer allegedly for threatening actor Shah Rukh Khan. The accused, identified as Faizan, was arrested from his residence in Raipur after he failed to appear before Mumbai Police.

The phone number used to make threat call to Khan was registered in the name of Faizan. On being questioned by the cops, Faizan had claimed that he had lost the phone and he lodged a police complaint in the regard on November 2. Police were reportedly not satisfied with the answers from the accused. Cops are likely to bring Faizan to Mumbai for further interrogation into the case.

Caller demanded Rs 50 lakh from Shah Rukh Khan

Mumbai Police are investigating a threat to Khan where the 59-year-old actor was asked to pay Rs 50 lakh.

Mumbai Police had lodged a case under Sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Mumbai police on Tuesday informed their Raipur counterparts that they have arrested Faizan Khan from Pandri police station area here as a part of their probe into a threat call to Shah Rukh Khan, Raipur’s Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI.

The Mumbai police will now produce Faizan at a local court to seek his transit remand before taking him to Mumbai.

Apart from Shah Rukh, another Bollywood actor, Salman Khan, has also been facing death threats from allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 by three assailants in Mumbai. The attack took place outside Siddique’s son MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East. In the attack, the 66-year-old politician, who was also known for his close links to several Bollywood actors, sustained two bullet injuries on his chest and was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital. Based on initial investigations, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is said to be behind the murder.
