China Hands Over Third Hangor Class Submarine to Pakistan
Beijing: China has handed over the third submarine of the 8 new advanced Hunger class submarines to be handed over to Pakistan. This move of Beijing is to increase Islamabad’s naval strength and support Pakistan’s growing presence in the Indian Ocean. China’s official newspaper ‘Global Times’ reported that the watery ceremony of the third Hungor category submarine was held on Thursday in Wuhan, Hubei province of Central China.

The second submarine of the 8 submarines being made by China for Pakistan was handed over in March this year. It is in addition to the 4 modern naval fighter ships that China has given to Pakistan in the last few years. This supply is part of Pakistan’s efforts to increase the naval strength of Pakistan amidst the continuous expansion of the Chinese Navy in the Arabian Sea.
Submarine is equipped with state -of -the -art weapons
A statement from Pakistan’s Defense Department in the newspaper said that on the occasion of the watering of the third submarine, Pakistan’s Deputy Navy Chief Project-2 Vice Admiral Abdul Samad said that the state-of-the-art weapons and advanced sensors of the Hunger-class submarine would be helpful in maintaining the balance and ensuring maritime stability.

According to a recent report by ‘Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’ (Sipri), China has supplied more than 81 percent of Pakistan’s military hardware. According to the database of ‘SIPRI’ (Sipri), some major orders given by Pakistan in the last five years include the country’s first detective ship (Rizwan), more than 600 VT-four warriors and 36 J-10 CE four-and-a-half-year-old fighter aircraft. China handed over the first consignment of multipurpose J-10 CE fighter aircraft to the Pakistani Air Force in 2022, in addition to the JF-17 fighter aircraft jointly manufactured by both countries. Pakistan used these fighter aircraft in a recent struggle with India.
