Asian Games: China defeats Indian men's football team 5-1

Hangzhou, September 19 (Hindustan Reporter) The Indian men’s football team suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat at the hands of China in its first match of Group A of the Asian Games played at the Huanglong Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou. For China, Tao Qianglong scored two goals, Gao Tianyi, Dai Weijun and Hao Fang scored 1 each, while for India, Rahul KP scored the only goal.

In this match, China started aggressively and in the 16th minute of the match, Gao Tianyi dodged the Indian defenders and scored a brilliant goal to give his team a 1-0 lead.

After this goal, the Indian players adopted an aggressive stance to make a comeback and just before half time, Rahul KP scored a goal and gave India a 1-1 draw. Both the teams remained tied at 1-1 till half-time.

After the intermission, China once again made a fast start and in the 51st minute of the match, Chinese midfielder Dai Weijun scored a goal, giving China the lead again and making the score 2-1. In the 72nd and 75th minutes of the match, Tao Qianglong scored two consecutive goals to increase China’s lead to 4-1. Hao Fang scored another goal in extra time (90 2) of the match to increase China’s lead to 5–1.
