US President Donald Trump has taken a big step against India on buying oil from Russia. The Trump government has imposed 25 percent of additional tariffs on India. In this way, the US has imposed a total tariff on goods coming from India. China has reacted sharply to this order of Donald Trump.
China criticized America
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Ziakun has described the US move as an abuse of business regulations. He said that China has always been opposing the misuse of tariffs and our stand on it is clear and permanent.
Why the most tariff on India?
Donald Trump has announced a total of 50% tariff on India, saying that India is very close to China in terms of buying oil from Russia. In such a situation, America will move towards secondary sanctions to deal with it. At a press conference at the White House, Donald Trump said, “As you know, we have imposed 50 percent tariff for Russian oil on India. They are very close to China in the purchase of oil from Russia.”
According to the news agency PTI, when Trump was asked at the press conference whether they could remove the tariff from India if they have compromised with Russia-Ukraine? To this, Trump replied that at the moment India will pay 50% tax, what will happen next, will be seen.
When the US President was asked that China and Türkiye are also buying oil from Russia, then why such a big action on India itself? To this, Trump said, “It has been just 8 hours with tariffs on India, you will see a lot, there will be a flood of secondary sanctions.”
India expressed strong objection
India has described America’s move as unfortunate and ‘unfair’. India’s Foreign Ministry (Mea) issued a statement saying that India buys oil keeping in mind the energy needs of its 1.4 billion population. Mea also said that India will take every necessary step to protect its national interests.
Let us know that the 25% tariff on India imposed by the US has come into force from August 7, while the new 25% tariff will be implemented after 21 days i.e. 27 August. The US has imposed a 50% tariff on India over Russian oil imports, while China has 30% tariffs and only 15% on Türkiye.
