According to media reports, Xi Jinping’s sister committed suicide during the cultural revolution (1966–1976) in China. This was the time when Xi Jinping’s family was facing serious political and social pressure. His father, Xi Chongshun, who was a senior leader of the Communist Party, was jailed on the orders of Mao Zedong, and the family faced heavy harassment. In this difficult period, Jinping’s sister committed suicide due to social and family pressure.
