Former CJI Sanjeev Khanna had asked Justice Yashwant Verma to resign on the basis of inhouse report. For this, CJI Khanna wrote a letter to the President and the Prime Minister recommended the removal of Justice Verma. News agency ANI has given this information quoted by sources.

Earlier, ANI had said that the central government could bring a proposal in the monsoon session of Parliament to remove Justice Verma from the post. According to legal experts, if they resign, they will get pension and other benefits like a retired judge. If the proposal is removed in Parliament, nothing will be found, etc.

Justice Verma, a judge of the Delhi High Court, caught fire on 14 March in the government bungalow in Lutyens Delhi. The fire service team, who arrived to extinguish the fire, had received a half-district notes of Rs 500-500 filled in the sacks. The Allahabad High Court was transferred as the matter escalated. However, he is not being given any judicial work.

Oral resignation can also be given in Parliament
Legal experts say that Justice Verma can declare to leave the post in any House of Parliament, putting his side in front of MPs. His oral statement will be considered as resignation.

According to Article 217 of the Constitution, the judge of the High Court can resign the President. There is no approval for the resignation of the judge.

The judges can also write the date for leaving the post in their letter. In such a case, they can also take back the resignation before that date.
