Supreme Court Chief Justice BR Gawai gave Justice J.B. Pardiwala’s bench has made a major reshuffle, behind which two recent disputed orders given by him are considered to be the main reason. These decisions waged a sharp debate not only in legal circles but also among the general public.

First controversy: Allahabad HC judge case

The first case was related to the Allahabad High Court. Justice Pardiwala and Justice R. The bench of Mahadevan passed an order and stopped a judge of the Allahabad High Court from hearing of criminal cases and also directed that he should be seated with a senior judge. There was a huge dispute over this order, after which Chief Justice Gawai had to intervene. He asked the bench to reconsider his order, after which the bench had to change its original order.

Second dispute: case of stray dogs

The second case was related to stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. On August 11, the same bench ordered that all stray dogs be removed from the streets and sent to the shelter home. This decision was also strongly opposed by animal lovers and social organizations across the country. In view of the dispute, Chief Justice Gavai immediately took action and removed the matter from Justice Pardiwala’s bench and handed over a new bench of three judges.
