-Two coal blocks were auctioned on the second day of the 10th round of coal mine auction.

New Delhi, 22 November (HS). The Coal Ministry on Friday signed agreements for 3 coal blocks with successful bidders of the commercial coal mines auction. These three coal blocks are fully explored coal blocks. The successful bidders include Hindalco Industries Ltd and Jhar Mineral Resources Pvt Ltd respectively. Along with this, two coal blocks have been auctioned on the second day of the 10th round of auction.

In a statement issued by the Coal Ministry, the Ministry’s Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt, along with Additional Secretary and Designated Authority Rupinder Brar, handed over the agreement documents to the successful bidders of these three coal blocks. According to the Ministry, the coal blocks for which these Coal Block Production and Development Agreements have been executed are Meenakshi and Rampiya and Deep Side Coal Blocks of Rampiya. On this occasion, both the officials assured full support and cooperation from the Ministry to ensure smooth operation of the coal blocks.

Speaking on the occasion, Dutt stressed the commitment of the Ministry to facilitate the successful implementation of coal mining projects which are expected to contribute significantly to India’s energy security and economic growth. The total annual revenue generation from these 3 coal blocks under the auction of commercial coal blocks is estimated to be Rs 2,709.95 crore when fully operationalized.

The ministry said that these three coal blocks are expected to generate direct and indirect employment for 36,504 people. A total investment of Rs 4,050 crore will be made to commission these coal blocks. The Coal Ministry said that this event marks the successful auction of 104 coal blocks since the beginning of commercial coal mining in the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
