New Delhi: The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said that the grief caused by wars disturbs them. He appealed to the people to see their “alleged enemies” as a human being, as such compassion can also resolve the most complex conflicts in a peaceful manner. The fourteenth Dalai Lama was the 90th birthday on July 6. He said this in a written message, which was read by a monk from Dharamshala at a memory ceremony held here on Sunday. Scholars, researchers and prestigious spiritual leaders from different parts of India and the world gathered at a one -day conference here, held to commemorate the 90th birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama. During this time, subjects like the relevance of Buddha religion and the relationship between traditional ethics and scientific evidence were discussed.
Exhibition of photographs related to important events
A film dedicated to the heritage of the fourteenth Dalai Lama was screened, while a special temporary exhibition was also organized at the venue. The exhibition displayed the rare white-white photographs of his childhood, photos of his meeting with the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad in the 1950s, and pictures related to other important events of his life. An exhibition based on the life of Buddha and various places related to him was also organized at the venue. In the inaugural session of this conference organized by the International Buddhist Federation (IBC), a written message on the July 8 was sent by Samadong Rimche, sent for the event.
The Dalai Lama said, “As an ordinary Buddhist monk, I usually do not pay much attention to birthday celebrations. However, since you are using this opportunity to highlight the importance of compassion, harmony and philanthropy in the world, so I want to express my appreciation.” He said in his message that it has been more than 66 years now when he himself and a large number of Tibetan people managed to come to India after “attack on Tibet by Chinese Communist”. The Tibetan spiritual leader said that since then he has got “freedom and opportunity” to continue the study of ancient Indian knowledge.
Special closeness with India
The Dalai Lama said, “I feel a special closeness with this country.” The Dalai Lama said that if the ancient knowledge tradition of India- including the teachings of Buddha- is associated with modern education, then it can be helpful in “peace and happiness” in the world. He said, “I pray that there is more peace and understanding in the world. Due to the war, I feel very sad to see such a large number of people in trouble.” His remarks have come under the backdrop of the ongoing wars and conflicts in different parts of the world. He said, “If we accept our common humanity, understand that those whom we consider to be ‘alleged enemies’ are also humans, then I really believe that we can find a peaceful solution to the most difficult struggles. But for this, the desire for communication and conversation is necessary. ” He said, “Therefore, I pray that collective efforts should be made to create a peaceful, more compassionate and violence -free world.”
Chinese public increased interest in Buddhism
He also said that in today’s time, interest in Buddhism is increasing among the Chinese people including the mainland China. The Dalai Lama said that scientists are also interested in knowing the Buddhist vision of Buddhist philosophy and mind and emotions. He expressed gratitude to India and Indians, saying, “Tibetan people are extremely grateful for the warmth and hospitality shown to the Government of India and the public since 1959.” He said, “In the end, I think my life has been beneficial for people around the world and I dedicate my rest of my life to the service of others.” The conference held at Ashok Hotel was also attended by international and national Buddhist monks, including Buddhist monks from Thailand, Malaysia and other Buddhist countries.
