'Compromise, don't make excuses' - hostages' family bluntly tells Netanyahu government

New Delhi, October 19 (IANS). Relatives of people taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza and anti-government activists are appealing to the public to join their weekly rally to support the hostage-ceasefire deal.

“No more excuses!” the group Kulanu Hatufim (We Are All Hostages) wrote in a post on Twitter, The Times of Israel reported on Saturday.

The post said, “Over the past year, [प्रधानमंत्री बेंजामिन] Netanyahu sabotaged the agreement dozens of times to extend his rule. Many of the hostages died, while others are currently suffering severe torture and their lives are in danger.”

Kulanu Hatufim, referring to the assassination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, said, “Now that Sinwar has been eliminated, there are no excuses – now is the time for compromise!”

The rally will start at 7pm on Saturday on Begin Street in Tel Aviv, while smaller protests are also planned across the country.

The Hostage and Missing Families Forum will hold its weekly rally near Hostage Square.

Hostage Square is a public square located in front of the Tel Aviv Art Museum. Since the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, families of those taken hostage during the attack have camped in the square. It is near the headquarters of the Israel Defense Forces. It has been the site of rallies and protests demanding the release of hostages during the Israel-Hamas war.

Let us tell you that on October 7, 2023, about 1200 people were killed in Hamas attacks on Israel and more than 250 people were taken captive. Israel had told the strategist of this attack to Yahya Sinwar.

Israel officially announced the death of the Hamas leader on Thursday (October 17). “Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 attack and massacre, was killed in gunfire on Wednesday in Rafah, southern Gaza,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency said in a statement.

After the attack on October 7, 2023, Israel declared war against Hamas and started military action in the Gaza Strip occupied by the Palestinian group.

According to an October 19 report by Al Jazeera, at least 42,500 people have been killed and 99,546 injured in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
