Speaking at a state-level function here in which Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann administered the oath to 10,031 newly elected sarpanches from across the state, Arvind Kejriwal said it is imperative to ensure comprehensive development of villages by using public money wisely. .

Calling upon the Sarpanches to root out the drug problem from the state, the former Chief Minister of Delhi said that with the active role of the Sarpanches, Punjab can soon be made a drug-free state. He said that the Punjab Government and Punjab Police are committed to this work. Arvind Kejriwal said that Sarpanches have an important role and they should fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

He said that for the welfare of the villages, Sarpanches should perform their duties with complete honesty and transparency. Arvind Kejriwal asked the Sarpanches to take every decision after consulting the villagers and said that Sarpanches can play an important role in the all-round development of the villages.
During this, in his address, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann congratulated all the Sarpanches elected to this important post. He said that 13,147 new Panchayats were elected in the recently held Panchayat elections. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that today 10,031 sarpanches from 19 districts of Punjab took oath in this state level ceremony.
Thanked the villagers for electing the Panchayats.
The Chief Minister said that the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected sarpanches of remaining districts like Sri Muktsar Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Barnala and Gurdaspur and newly elected 81,808 panches of all 23 districts will be held after the ground elections of Gidderbaha, Chabbewal, Barnala and Dera Baba Nanak. He thanked the villagers for unanimously electing the Panchayats. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these villages, rising above narrow mindedness and unanimously electing Panchayats, on one hand strengthened brotherhood and communal harmony in the villages, and on the other hand ensured all-round development of their villages.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride and satisfaction that the Panchayats of 3037 villages of the state were unanimously elected and Firozpur district achieved the highest position by unanimously electing 336 Panchayats, followed by Gurdaspur (335) and Tarn Taran (334). Is. He said that the wise voters of Punjab have entrusted a big responsibility to all the Sarpanches and they should fulfill it with full dedication. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he is indebted to the voters of the state who participated in these elections with full enthusiasm in a free and fair manner.
The Chief Minister said that Panchayats are known as ‘pillars of democracy’ as they have immense power and their decisions are respected in the entire village. He said that now that the people of the state have given these powers to the Sarpanches, their primary duty is to protect their interests and respect their wishes. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that about 70 percent of the population of our country lives in villages, hence Panchayat Raj institutions are seen as a symbol of democracy.
The Chief Minister said that these institutions work as catalysts to spread the benefits of public welfare and development-oriented schemes of the state government to the grassroots. He said that Sarpanches and Panches play a big role in implementing the policies of the state government on the ground. Bhagwant Singh Mann appealed to all the Sarpanches to dedicate themselves to development works from today itself.
The Chief Minister said that schools, dispensaries, veterinary hospitals and many other facilities related to public welfare are already under the direct supervision of Panchayats. Similarly, many other works related to the development of villages are also being done under the guidance of Sarpanches. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Sarpanches should monitor these works and services in a dedicated manner.
The Chief Minister gave a clear call to the Sarpanches to stay away from any kind of undesirable interference in these works. He said that it is very sad that due to factionalism in villages, many works get hampered. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Sarpanches should give priority to ending factionalism in villages.
The Chief Minister said that in a democracy, the person or party that gets the majority is the winner, but once the Sarpanch is elected, he is the representative of the entire village. He said that the Sarpanch should treat every citizen of the village equally and take decisions impartially. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that many sarpanches of villages have rejuvenated the villages with their understanding and foresight.
The third house belongs to NRIs
The Chief Minister said that every third house in our villages belongs to NRIs and NRIs should ensure that they actively participate in the development of villages. He said that to keep the youth away from drugs, Sarpanches should emphasize on making their villages drug free. Bhagwant Singh Mann also said that Sarpanches should work hard to strengthen the fabric of peace and brotherhood in the villages.
The Chief Minister said that it is necessary to further increase the pace of development and prosperity in villages. He said that the Punjab Government is committed to the all-round development and progress of the villages and no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Sarpanch works as a bridge between the government and the villages and they should play a big role in the development of the villages.
The Chief Minister assured the Sarpanches that there will be no shortage of funds for carrying out development works in the villages. He asked the Sarpanches to give priority to the development works of their villages so that the state government can start work in this regard. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Panchayats should take decisions for the all-round development of villages and the state government will take every measure for this.
Start a Creative Campaign
The Chief Minister appealed to everyone to start a constructive campaign and play an active role in rejuvenating the villages of the state so that we can create Rangla Punjab. He asked the Sarpanches to work hard to make the villages clean, full of greenery and pollution free. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that health, education, electricity, water and infrastructure are the five priorities of his government.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has given more than 45,000 jobs to the youth of the state in a transparent manner. He said that due to the concrete initiatives of the Punjab Government, 90 percent of the houses in the state are getting free electricity. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Punjab government has invited Tata Steel and other leading industrialists to invest so that the local youth can get jobs.
The Chief Minister said that while the previous governments looted the wealth of the state and the country, the AAP government is paying full attention to development. He said that AAP’s convener Arvind Kejriwal has shown a new path to the people and the state government is working as per his thinking for the welfare of the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann assured the people that the state government will ensure the progress of the state and the prosperity of the people.
