New Delhi. Congress has fielded party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for the by-elections being held on Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala.

Giving this information, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Priyanka Vadra to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad seat.

It is noteworthy that the discussion of Priyanka Vadra contesting elections from Wayanad was going on ever since the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, resigned from this seat.

Rahul Gandhi had contested elections from Rae Bareli and Wayanad and after winning the elections from both the places, he decided to represent his family’s traditional Lok Sabha constituency Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

Sonia Gandhi has been contesting elections from this seat but in the 2024 general elections, she decided not to contest the elections citing health, after which Rahul Gandhi contested elections from this seat and reached the Lok Sabha.
