Heavy rains continue in 10 states including the country’s capital Delhi. Delhi has been raining since Thursday morning. Normal life has been affected by this. The Meteorological Department on Thursday warned of heavy rains in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh, Western Uttar Pradesh. All schools in Lucknow have been closed in view of IMD alert. Two persons went missing while two others were injured due to heavy landslides on Wednesday near Ghatu Ghat on Rishikesh-Nelakanth road. Telangana is also expected to have extremely heavy rainfall on 13-14 August.

IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places during August 13 to 18 in Jammu and Kashmir. The Meteorological Department issued an alert saying that there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Landslide on Rishikesh-Nelakanth route

Two persons went missing and two others were injured due to heavy landslides near Ghatu Ghat on Rishikesh-Nelakanth road in Laxman Jhula area of Rishikesh on Wednesday. Laxman Jhula Police Kotwali Police Station Santosh Paitwal said that the rising Ganga river is flowing at a distance of fifteen meters from the spot and there is a strong apprehension that both the missing people have fallen into the river due to landslides. Missing persons are being searched in both debris and river. The missing persons have been identified as Musheer of Mangalore in Uttarakhand and Ajit Pal of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Paitwal said that the injured person is the driver and operator of a truck who was filled with bricks from Haridwar, who stopped their truck and replaced its puncture tire and during this time the landslide from the mountain was hit by a landslide. He said that both the injured were discharged after first aid.

325 roads closed in Himachal Pradesh

After the latest incidents of cloudburst and sudden floods in Himachal Pradesh, several bridges were swept away in Shimla and Lahaul and Spiti districts, while more than 300 roads including two national highways had to be closed for traffic. Officials said a police post was washed away in the fresh floods in the Ganvi Valley, while a bus stand and nearby shops were damaged after heavy rains in Shimla district. Two bridges were washed away in these incidents, causing the contact of the codes and panchayats of the district. Officials said that no casualties have been reported till now. The floods are also reported in the Kurpon Khad of Kullu. The local administration has advised people to stay away from areas around Kurpon Khad and Bagipul-Nimmand.

A total of 325 roads including two national highways have to be closed for traffic due to rain in Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department on Thursday issued ‘Orange Alert’, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains at different places in three districts of Chamba, Kangra and Mandi. The department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’, expressing the possibility of heavy rains in different areas of four to six districts from Friday to Sunday.

Many flights canceled from Hyderabad due to bad weather

Many flights from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport were canceled or their route were changed due to bad weather in Telangana. Sources in the airport said that the flights of Kochi, Chennai, Patna and Ahmedabad of the airline IndiGo and the flights returned from here have been canceled. He said that 11 planes were sent to other airports. Later seven of these planes came back and reached Hyderabad by evening. IMD said that ‘Red Alert’ has been released till Thursday for various parts of Telangana. A Meteorological Center official told reporters that “heavy to heavy rainfall” has been feared for several districts including Hyderabad and “Orange Alert” has also been released for this.
