Controversy over the new temple of Bengal government ‘Jagannath Dham’
Protests have started in Odisha regarding the name of Jagannath temple in Digha, West Bengal. The pundits, servants, scholars, artists and researchers of Puri Jagannath Temple are objecting to the name of the temple as ‘Jagannath Dham’.
In fact, Western Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the Jagannath temple at Digha in East Medinipur district on 30 April. After worshiping, he named the temple as ‘Jagannath Dham’.
The people of Odisha supported the construction of the temple, but objected to the name. He says that Jagannath Dham is only in Puri, giving this name to another temple is against Hindu beliefs and traditions.
Sand artist Padmarshan Patnaik has written a letter to Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi to talk to the West Bengal government. He has also asked Mamata Banerjee to apologize.
Some servants of the Puri temple participating in the inauguration of the Digha temple have claimed that Brahma has been installed in the stone statue of Lord Jagannath.
Patnaik has shared a letter to the Law Minister of Odisha. He has demanded the word ‘Brahma’ and the use of the name ‘Jagannath Dham’.
Conspiracy against Sanatan Dharma
Sudarshan Patnaik: I request the Chief Minister of West Bengal to apologize to millions of devotees of Lord Jagannath for presenting the temple at Digha as a Dham.
Madhab Mahapatra, former member of Shri Jagannath Temple Management Committee: Mamta Banerjee should avoid making false claims. This appears to be a part of the conspiracy against Jagannath Dham and Sanatan Dharma.
Senior servant Ramchandra Das Mahapatra: Adi Shankaracharya had given the status of Dham to the Puri Peeth of Lord Jagannath. How can Digha Dham become? Please do not mislead people.
Priyadarshan Patnaik, convenor of Shri Jagannath Sena: Mamta Banerjee should not mislead the people of Bengal. The people of Bengal are aware of the truth. They cannot be misled.
