CO’s car trapped in mud during flood inspection at Gaya, villagers rescued: Gaya-Flood-2025-Co-VEHICLE-STUCK-FALGU-River-Water-Level-Rising
Gaya, Bihar. The continuous rains and the boom of the river Falgu have created flood -like situation in many areas of Gaya district. Bodh Gaya Zonal Officer (CO) Mahesh Kumar, who arrived to take stock of the flood situation, also got a direct experience of this disaster when his vehicle got stuck in mud on the raw way of Basradi village.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the CO was returning after visiting flood affected areas. Due to the rain, the vehicle collapsed badly in the mud on the wet and slippery way, which the driver’s attempts to remove were unsuccessful.
Villagers extended help to help, remained officer present in vehicle
Seeing the situation deteriorating, the local people of the village came forward for help. After about half an hour of effort, the villagers pushed the vehicle out, then the Zonal Officer could leave for the journey ahead. During this whole incident, the officers kept sitting inside the car, but after the vehicle came out, he thanked the villagers and appealed for cooperation in relief work.
Water level of Phalgu and Niranjana rivers increased, water entered many villages
According to the Meteorological Department, the water level of Phalgu and Niranjana rivers of Gaya district has reached dangerous levels due to continuous rains since Tuesday night. In many villages of Bodh Gaya, Sherghati and Barachatti blocks, river and canal water have reached homes due to floods.
The houses of many householders have been flooded, due to which the villagers are facing a lot of trouble. Children and the elderly have been evacuated to safe places, and many families have shifted to temporary shelter sites.
District administration active, officials conducted terrestrial inspection
Gaya District Magistrate (DM), Sadar SDO and Bodh Gaya CO visited the affected areas and inspected the situation. Relief and rescue operations have been expedited by the administration. As the outbreak of rain is stopping, water is slowly coming out of the villages, but the fields, gardens and roads are still submerged.
The villagers who had gone to safe places are now slowly returning to their homes. The administration has not only arranged for relief camps, but has also started pump sets and temporary drainage schemes to deal with water logging.
Repair of infrastructure damaged by floods begins
The district administration has started the work of repairing broken roads, damaged bridges and culverts due to floods. Also, temporary routes and alternative routes are also being constructed so that there is no obstruction in the movement of people.
Rail traffic also affected, many trains late for hours
The impact of heavy rains was also seen on rail services. The soil and stone fell on the railway track from the mountain near Bansinala Halt in Gaya-Hawada railway block, causing dozens of trains to remain delayed for about six hours. The railway administration restored traffic by cleaning the track, but this caused a lot of trouble to the passengers.
Life disrupted due to floods and rain, but administration alert
The flood situation in Gaya is under control, but the danger is not completely averted. The administration is constantly monitoring, and appeals to the common people to be cautious and follow administrative instructions.
