Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said on Thursday that Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, who was a victim of the accident on June 12, was well maintained. Wilson reported that the aircraft was last examined in June 2023 and the next investigation was to be held in December 2025. He said that there was no problem in the plane before flying to London. In a message to passengers, the Air India chief also said that a 15 percent reduction in operating widebodies for the next few weeks is a temporary step.

Strict Boeing 787 and 777 pre-flight security checks

Campbell Wilson said, “The aircraft was maintained well, the last investigation was done in June 2023 and the next investigation was to be held in December 2025. Its right engine was repaired in March 2025 and the left engine was examined in April 2025. Both the aircraft and the engine were regularly tested, which did not show any problem before the flight. ”Wilson said that the airline as well as the entire aviation industry is waiting for the official inquiry report to know the main reason of this tragedy. He said that as a measure of trust-restoration, the airline is tightening its boiling 787 and 777 fleet flight security checks.

He said, “Our condolences are with all the people affected by this damage.” Air India flight AI171 had a total of 242 people, including 12 members of the crew. The aircraft collided with a medical hostel building in Meghani Nagar area a few minutes after flying from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on 12 June. A total of 297 people died in this accident, including 241 people aboard the plane. There is only one British traveler alive in this accident.
