All-rounder Jamie Overton, who played for Channai Super Kings in IPL 2025 and England cricket team’s fast bowler Jamie Overton, made a big announcement on Monday, 1 September and decided to take an indefinite break from Red-Ball cricket. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed this by releasing the press release. This decision could prove to be a major setback for England before Ashes 2025-26.

The 31-year-old overton has so far played 99 first-class matches, in which he has taken 239 wickets and also scored 2410 runs. In Test cricket, he got a chance to play two matches so far, against New Zealand in June 2022 and against India in July-August 2025. In these matches, he scored a total of 4 wickets and 106 runs.

Jamie overs was scheduled to be a part of the England squad for Ashes 2025-26, but due to his latest decision, he will no longer be part of the team on the tour of Australia.

Overton has played domestic cricket from Surrey and Summerset in his career. The 6 feet 5 -inch long bowler took full advantage of his height and high speed and also caught the attention of English selectors. However, injuries interrupted his career and now they want to focus on white-ball cricket completely.

The Ashes series will be played on five prestigious grounds in Australia between 2025-26 November 2025 to January 2026, so the absence of overson may affect England’s preparations.
