New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to an accused who allegedly cheated an accused by pretending to send a person to America by “Dunki” route. The court made a strong comment and said that such people tarnish the image of Indian passport. Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan and Manmohan’s bench said on Monday, “Indian passports are disrespectful because of people like you.” The apex court further stated that such acts of some people cause slander for Indian passports.
What is Dunky Root?
Explain that migrant citizens illegally reach a country through “Dunki Route” or “Dunki Journey”. Especially from the Dunki route, Indian citizens are used to illegally enter the US, Canada, Britain and other developed countries of Europe. This process involves using human smugglers and passing through various countries, which often leads to rigorous and dangerous conditions to ignore legal immigration processes. The word “Dunky” is based on Punjabi idiom “Dunki”, which means jumping from one place to another.
Very serious told the allegations
Referring to the facts of the case, the bench said that the accused not only cheated the person, but also traveled to several countries adjacent to the US under inhuman conditions to ensure illegal entry into America. The bench described these allegations as “very serious” and refused to consider Om Prakash’s anticipatory bail plea. The petition was filed against the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, in which he was refused to give relief in the case.
What is the whole matter?
According to the FIR, Prakash was an associate of the main accused, who was working as an agent and assured the complainant to send him to the US on a legitimate means on payment of Rs 43 lakh. The main accused sent the complainant to Dubai in September 2024 and from there to various countries, then to Panama forests and then Mexico. On 1 February, the main accused’s “Donkar/agents” crossed the US border. The complainant was arrested by the US police, put in jail and sent to India on 16 February. (input language)
