The Supreme Court on Thursday heard the issue of stray dogs. The Special Bench of Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice NV Anjaria has reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments of all the parties.
On behalf of the government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued that there are many non -vegetarian people who call themselves animal lover. At the same time, Kapil Sibal said that the matter should be resolved. Collect dogs from Delhi-NCR and send a shelter home that are not yet.
Order to send stray dogs to Shelter Home in Delhi-NCR
Earlier, a two -judge bench of the Supreme Court ruled in the case on August 11, which is being opposed on a large scale. On Wednesday, Chief Justice BR Gavai said that on the plea of the Conference of Human Rights (India) NGOs, he himself would look into the matter. The case was handed over to a special bench of 3 judges.
The apex court ordered all stray dogs to be removed from the residential areas of Delhi-NCR in 8 weeks in view of cases of dog bites and rabies on 11 August. The court warned of strict action against the persons obstructing this work.
Justice Vikram Nath said- the officials are not doing what they should do
Justice Vikram Nath asked a female lawyer- Miss Dave, from whose side are you from? Dave said- I am from MCD. Our affidavit is in record. Whatever order passes, we are ready to follow it.
Justice Vikram Nath said that but what do you have to say? This is happening due to the inaction of the Municipal Corporation. Local officials are not doing what they should do. They should take responsibility here. Every person who comes here to register intervention should take responsibility.
Advocate Siddharth Dave said- dogs are being picked up, but not shelter home
Advocate Siddharth Dave said that I have appeared here on behalf of an expert. Dogs are being picked up, but there is no shelter home. Prior to the order, there was only amicus report before the court. NGOs working on these issues have no material.
The actual figures have been trusted and self -cognizance case was registered due to unproven video.
Justice Sandeep Mehta said that this is also a real statement. File an affidavit, we will consider.
