Delhi: Good news for diesel-petrol vehicle owners 10 and 15 year old, Supreme Court’s big decision came
A great news has emerged for the owners of 10 -year -old diesel and 15 years petrol vehicles. The Supreme Court has given a major verdict for him. The Supreme Court has said its recent order that no punitive action will be taken against the owners of 10 -year -old diesel and 15 -year -old petrol vehicles in the national capital. The decision came during the hearing on the petition of the Delhi government, in which the ban on old trains was challenged. The court will now hear the matter after 4 weeks.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested the apex court to consider passing an order not to take any punitive action on old age vehicles. According to PTI news, a bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice BR Gawai, Justice Vinod K. Chandran and Justice NV Anjaria said in their latest order that there will be no punitive action against the 10-year-old diesel vehicles and the owners of 15-year-old petrol vehicles in Delhi-NCR. However, this order of the Supreme Court will apply only for the scheduled time.
What did Solicitor General say
During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said in his argument that I have a car. I use it from court to come home and back to court. Even after 10 years, this train would have run only 2000 km. If someone used it for a taxi, it would have burnt for 1 lakh kilometers in 2 years. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta further said in his argument that I have to sell my car because it has completed 10 years but the car that has run 1 lakh kilometers will continue to run. Police job is to seize the vehicles. In such circumstances, no forced should be done regarding old or overseas vehicles.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that earlier cars were used for 40 to 50 years. Even today there are vintage cars. Issue notice. Answer this in 4 weeks. During this time no punitive action should be taken against the owners of alleged over -edged vehicles that their diesel vehicles are 10 years old while petrol vehicles are 15 years old.
What was the whole matter
The Rekha Gupta government of Delhi had said to file an appeal in the Supreme Court regarding the earlier order on old vehicles in the national capital. Recently, the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) also accepted that it did not conduct any research or study on pollution from diesel vehicles over 10 years old and petrol vehicles more than 15 years old. In response to RTI filed by environmentalist Amit Gupta, CAQM had said the above. CAQM said that it had not done any research or study about the impact of old age vehicles.
