The film ‘Udaipur Files’, made on the famous Kanhaiyalal murder case of Udaipur, is already engulfed in controversies. Vijay Raj is in the lead role in this film. Along with this, Rajneesh Duggal, Preeti Jhangiani, Kamlesh Sawant and Mushtaq Khan are also in important roles.

The demand to ban ‘Udaipur Files’ had started coming up since the trailer release of the film. At the same time, the Delhi High Court has stopped the release of the film by shocking the makers of ‘Udaipur Files’. The film was scheduled to release in theaters on July 11.

The Delhi High Court said that the release of the film will be banned until the government takes a decision. The film is based on the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, who was beheaded and killed inside the shop. The petitioners accused in the case demanded a permanent ban on its release.

A division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Anish Dayal asked the central government to consider the petition. He asked to decide within a week whether the film should be released or not. The petitioner said that the film may instigate communal riots and the certification given by CBFC requires reconsideration.

The bench said that the petitioners have not yet filed a reconsideration petition with the central government, so they cannot demand judicial intervention at this level. Since we are obliged to file a reconsideration petition to the petitioner, we make provisions that the release of the film will be banned until the government takes a decision on the application for interim relief.

What was the matter

On 28 June 2022, two people named Gos Mohammad and Riyaz entered the shop of Taylor Kanhaiyalal on the pretext of sewing clothes. While Kanhaiyalal was taking the measure of one person, the other attacked him with a sharp weapon. After this, the attackers dragged them out of the shop and brutally strangled them.

The video of this murder also went viral on social media, which created a sensation in the country. Angered by this, the murder case was carried out by the accused.
