The police said that the family of the accused was against his plan to move to Canada until he got married. His addiction and unemployment had already put huge strain on family relationships.

New Delhi: In a ghastly incident, a 50-year-old woman was stabbed over dozen times by her 31-year-old son as she refused to provide him funds to move to Canada. The incident occurred in southeast Delhi’s Molarband. The accused has been arrested by the police. Geeta, the woman, died after she succumbed to her injuries, according to a PTI report.

As per the police, the family of the accused, Krishan Kant, was against his plan to move to Canada until he got married. His addiction and unemployment had already put huge strain on family relationships. On November 6, Kant made a call to his father, Surjeet Singh, and asked him to come home.

Police added that as Singh arrived, he found his son Krishan apologetic and yet composed, as he asked him to go upstairs. Singh went up and there he found Geeta’s lifeless body, which was stabbed beyond recognition. The woman was rushed to hospital by the neighbours, and was declared brought dead by the doctors there.

Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh pointed out that they received a PCR call at 4.58 pm from a hospital that a woman who was admitted there had been declared dead.

‘No remorse after killing his mother’

Initial probe revealed that when the incident occurred, only Krishan and his mother were at home. The man attacked her mother with a knife that he had bought three days back. The police are investigating whether the murder was planned and premeditated. A senior cop said that Krishan showed no remorse after killing his mother.

Krishan was a graduate and was preparing for International English Language Testing System (IELTS). He was also grappling with drug addiction. On the day of the incident, at 2pm, the man behaved normally after lunch. However, after an hour, there was a heated exchange of words between him and his mother, which turned violent and caused in the mother’s death.

Surjeet Singh is a property dealer and has his office is in Jaitpur. His younger son, Sahil, who is 27, is employed in a bank.
