The second season of Delhi Premier League (DPL) has come out. This new season will start from August 2 where many IPL playing stars will also be seen. The tournament will be inaugurated with a grand opening ceremony, followed by the first male match, while the final will be played on 31 August at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

In the event of meteorological disruption or unexpected conditions, a reserve day has been placed on 1 September for the men’s final. Eight male and four women teams will participate in the second season. The Delhi Premier League has divided eight of its teams into two groups of four. Group A consists of Outer Delhi Warriors, Central Delhi Kings, New Delhi Tigers and North Delhi Strikers. Group B consists of West Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders, South Delhi Superstars and Old Delhi 6.

The men’s tournament will have a total of 40 matches, where 8 teams will face each other for the title. The teams are divided into two groups of four each. Each team will play double round Robin (2 matches -hom and avse) with three teams of their group and will play a single round robin (1 match) with four teams from the other group, which will lead to a total of 10 matches.

The first four teams will reach the playoffs. The top two teams will have face to face in qualifier 1, in which the winner will get a place directly in the finals. Meanwhile, the third and fourth -ranked teams will compete in the eliminator, where the losing team will be out. The winner of the eliminator will then face the defeat team of qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The winner of that match will finish second in the final, which will lead to the winner of qualifier 1. A Reserve Day is scheduled on 1 September for the men’s final.

Women’s league format

The women’s competition, which runs from August 17 to August 24, will have four teams and a total of 6 matches will be played in the round-robin format. The top two teams of the league stage will qualify for the final.

Numeral system (male and female)

Win: 2 points

Cancel match/without results: 1 point

Equal: Will be decided from super over

If the marks of the teams are equal, the NET run rate (NRR) will work as a tie-breaker.
