Alwar News Desk, Alwar After the National Green Tribunal (NGT)’s order, the Rajasthan government has implemented the scrap policy for old vehicles in the NCR region of the state, but the transport department is not showing serious interest in scrapping the expired vehicles. Only a few vehicles have been scrapped within a year, while thousands of expired vehicles are running on the roads. Due to which pollution is spreading. There is also a danger of accidents. The Rajasthan government had implemented the scrap policy in Alwar and Bharatpur districts of NCR region of the state in September 2023. Under which the operation of 10 year old diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles has been banned. Also, scrap centers were to be opened to scrap these vehicles. For a long time, tenders were not made for the scrap centre. A few months ago, a Jaipur based firm was given the tender for a scrap centre, but recently this firm has also opened a collection center instead of a scrap centre.
Vehicles still standing: Parking of these banned vehicles in public places has also been banned. If such vehicles are parked in public places, they will be considered as powered vehicles only. In such a situation, there is a provision to immediately seize them and send them to the scrapping centre, but there are countless numbers of overdue vehicles parked in the streets and colonies. Under the scrap policy, a Jaipur firm has been given a tender to scrap the old overdue vehicles. The firm has opened a collection center in Alwar. Overdue vehicles are being collected from here and sent to Jaipur for scrap.
