Detainee died during treatment in Basti District Hospital

According to the doctor, he was suffering from liver cancer. Around July 2023, she was sent to the district jail in a dowry death case.
Jail Superintendent Ankekshita Srivastava said that ever since prisoner Deepak came to jail, he was undergoing continuous treatment in the Medical College and KGMU. At six in the morning, he was sent to the district hospital complaining of chest pain, where he died. The body has been sent to the PM. Family members also reached the spot after getting information. Information about the prisoner’s death has been sent to higher officials. He was admitted to jail on July 4, 2023 in the case of the death of his wife under suspicious circumstances in February 2019. Bandi Sirauta resident Deepak’s wife Savitri and son Ajay Kumar are also in jail in a dowry death case. There is no one at his house. After Deepak’s death, his imprisoned son Ajay Kumar and wife Savitri have demanded parole to attend the last rites.
Police Station Head Dwarika Prasad said that the report for parole is being sent as per the rules.
Team formed to investigate complaint in Lokayukta
Alleging corruption in the development works done by the Area Panchayat of development block Kaptanganj, the former block chief has filed a complaint against the current block chief in the Lokayukta. For on-site verification, a three-member team of senior prosecution officer and police area officer Kalwari was formed under the leadership of SDM and sought report in the case. Late in the evening, the SDM called Block Development Officer Kaptanganj and the complainant, former block chief Ramshankar Yadav, to receive the copy for investigation. The complainant reached but the Block Development Officer cited his busy schedule and asked for four days’ time from the SDM. Because of this the investigation could not start.
