DGCA handed over four show-couses notice to Air India, the company will have to answer in these cases

India’s aviation regulatory DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) on Thursday issued a show cause notice, clamping down on Air India. These notices have been issued for allegations of serious lapse in cabin crew’s duty and relaxation guidelines, training protocols, and operational procedures. According to PTI news, according to sources, these notices were released on July 23, based on the information submitted by Air India voluntarily submitted on 20 and 21 June.

Which flights did not follow the rules

According to the news, the first three notices are based on the information given on 20 June. It states that Air India violated at least four ultra long hall flights of the cabin crew’s duty and comfort rules. These flights were operated on 27 April (twice), 28 April and 2 May 2025. In this report, there has also been talk of ignoring crew training and operation process in flights of 26 July 2024, 9 October 2024 and 22 April 2025.

The fourth notice is based on the report on 21 June, with a violation of training and operational rules in flights on 10–11 April, 16 February – 19 May and 1 December 2024. In another notice, flights on 24 June 2024 and 13 June 2025 have been said to not follow the necessary rules like flight duty period and weekly rest.

Air India response

Air India confirmed the notices, stating in an official statement that we have obtained notices sent by the regulator, which are related to voluntary reporting given in the last one year. We will answer them within the stipulated time. Air India considers the safety of passengers and crew paramount.

Air India keeps a close watch after the last accident

Recently, DGCA monitored and strictness has increased on Air India. As you know, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft going from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick on 12 June 2025 collided with a building immediately after flying. 260 people lost their lives in this horrific accident, out of which 19 people were present on the ground.
