DGCA launches audit of Air India’s main base at Gurugram
Cadres of civil aviation (DGCA) started a detailed audit on the main base of Air India in Gurugram on Monday. It will also include operation, flight scheduling, roster (duty) and many other things. A source has given this information to PTI. Let us tell you that the main base or hub of any airline company is the airport where they keep their plane and crew members permanently. Air India flight AI171 crashed from Ahmedabad to London on 12 June, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Plane. In this accident, a total of 297 people, including 241 out of 242 people aboard the aircraft, were killed. It was only after this accident that the airline company of the Tata Group came under a tough investigation.
DGCA’s 8 -member team started the audit of Air India’s main base
The 8 -member team of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has started the audit of the main base of Air India. The source said that the team of three members usually audits annually. Sources said, “DGCA has started audit on the main base of Air India in Gurugram. This annual exercise will include all aspects including operations, flight schemes, tables, rosters and IOCC (Integrated Operations Control Center). ”Air India’s headquarters are in Gurugram, Haryana. The audit is also happening at a time when the DGCA has taken action against some Air India officials for repeated security lapses.
DGCA sought these details from the airline on 21 June
On June 21, the DGCA sought details from the airline flight operation inspectors from 2024 about the planned and unplanned inspection, audit, cockpit/route, station facility, ramp and cabin inspection etc. The communication regulator was sent a day after the airline issued a show cause notice for violation of flight duty (FDTL) and ordered three senior officers of the airline to remove the removal from their respective roles for some flaws. Meanwhile, DGCA has also designed a new structure for a wide special audit to evaluate 360 degrees of aviation ecosystem. These special audits will be in addition to the regulatory audit to be done according to the annual monitoring program.
