Rahul Bose
Before making a mark in Bollywood, Rahul Bose, associated with theater, made his acting debut with the English film ‘English, August’. Directed by Dev Benegal, this black comedy film was released in 1994. Although Rahul Bose managed to get his first film as the lead actor without any struggle, he said that he had to bear a lot of insults on the set. Bose claimed that he was not given a chair to sit, so he decided to buy his chair. Recalling those early days, Rahul Bose told in an interview, ‘I was not given a chair to sit in my first film. I was the lead actor. I never struggled, I started playing the lead role directly from the stage, and there was no heroine in the film – I was the only one. Nevertheless, I was never given a chair on the set. ‘
Bought a chair with his own money
The actor further explained that apart from him, everyone was given a chair on the set. Bose further said, ‘Sometimes I used to sit on the road divider or any munder as if there was no problem, but the rest of the people always had chairs. The creator, his sister, his uncle, all of me, used to get a chair. ‘ Eventually, Bose decided to take his chair. He told, ‘I went to a restaurant, and he had a fancy version of the chair on the set. It was priced at Rs 10,000 about 30 years ago, but I took my chair. Since that experience, I always bring my chair on the set because I never want to go through that insult again. ‘
