In the 7 elections held since 1990, Communist Party of India (M) had won 4 times, Congress had won twice and BJP had won once. Congress had won from here in 1990. Preparations for the assembly elections are in full swing in Rajasthan and top leaders of all important parties have started holding election rallies. Voting will be conducted here on 25th November. There are 8 assembly seats under Sikar district, out of which 7 seats are held by Congress and one seat was won by an independent candidate. Bharatiya Janata Party had not even opened its account in this district. Congress also has hold on Dhod seat.

Govardhan Verma’s name has been declared in the second list of BJP in Dhod assembly constituency. Dhod assembly constituency is reserved for SC. Govardhan Verma has previously been the Pradhan and has been the MLA from Dhod from 2013 to 2018. Govardhan Verma had lost the last election to senior Congress leader Parasram Moradia. This time BJP has again gambled on him. Govardhan Verma is a resident of Sarwadi of Dhod assembly constituency.

Congress’s Parasram won the election by a margin of 14,053 (7.5%) votes. In the then elections, there were a total of 2,44,581 voters in Dhod Assembly seat in which the number of male voters was 1,27,260 and the number of female voters was 1,17,314. A total of 1,88,464 (77.8%) voters cast their votes. 1,775 (0.7%) votes were cast in favor of NOTA. NOTA got the most votes after the top three leaders.

Then in 1993 this seat went to the Communist Party of India (M). CPM candidate Amra Ram had scored a hat-trick of electoral victories by winning consecutive elections in 1993, 1998 and 2003. Then in the 2008 elections, Pema Ram won on the ticket of Communist Party of India (M). In the 2013 elections, BJP opened its account from this seat and defeated Pema Ram of Communist Party of India (M). But in 2018, BJP slipped to third place while Communist Party of India (M) remained at second place and Congress’s Parasram Moradiya became MLA by winning the election.
