Indian all -rounder Ravindra Jadeja has shared one thing of his heart that no one knew till now. During a conversation, when he was asked what he wanted to achieve before retirement, he put his ‘last dream’ in front of everyone without hesitation.

Veteran player of Indian cricket team Ravindra Jadeja has spoken openly about the Test captaincy. He said that he has achieved almost everything in his career, but one wish is still left, captaining Team India.

Jadeja said these things on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube show ‘Kutti Stories with Ash’. During the conversation, when Ashwin asked him what is the goal that he would like to achieve before his retirement, Jadeja said without hesitation, “There is only one thing left, Test captaincy. The rest has achieved everything.”

36 -year -old Jadeja coming from Jamnagar has played 80 Tests, 204 ODIs and 74 T20 matches for India so far. However, he never got a chance to captain Team India. Yes, he has captained the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, but that journey was nothing special.

Interestingly, Ashwin himself, who retired from international cricket in December 2024, could never captain India. However, both players were the captain of their IPL franchise.

Significantly, after Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket on May 7, discussions about the new captain were intensified. Ashwin also extended Jadeja’s name in this race. He had said, “Everyone is talking about Shubman Gill, but why is Jadeja being ignored?” Ashwin also said that if Gill is to be made a captain, then first he should give some time with an experienced player.

But Jadeja’s dream of captaining the Test team may be incomplete as the Indian Cricket Board has now chosen Shubman Gill as Test captain after Rohit Sharma’s retirement, while Rishabh Pant as vice -captain. Now it will be interesting to see if this dream of Ravindra Jadeja becomes a reality or not.
