S jaishankar China visit: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Monday. During the talks, Jaishankar said that after the ‘good progress’ towards normalizing bilateral relations in the last 9 months, India and China should now focus on reducing tension on the Line of Real Control. In his initial speech at the meeting, Jaishankar said that the relationship between the two countries can move positively on the grounds that differences between India and China should not be converted into controversy nor a competition struggle.
‘India-China relations are slowly moving in the right direction’
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also stressed the need to avoid ‘restrictive’ business steps and ‘obstacles’. His clear gesture was from prohibiting China’s export of important minerals. The talks between the two foreign ministers took place a few hours after Jaishankar arrived in China to attend the conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Jaishankar said, “In our bilateral relation, there is a need to take a visionary initiative in connection with our relationship.” He said, “Since our meeting of our leaders in Kazan in October 2024, India-China relations are slowly moving in the right direction. Our responsibility is to maintain this pace. ”
‘There is a lot of progress in normalizing relationships’
The Foreign Minister said, “We have made a lot of progress in the last 9 months towards normalizing our bilateral relations. This is the result of our ability to solve tension on the border and maintain peace. “He said,” It is a fundamental basis of mutual strategic belief and smooth development of bilateral relations. Now it is our responsibility to pay attention to other aspects related to the border including reducing stress.
‘There are many aspects and dimensions of India-China relations’
Jaishankar said that as neighboring countries and major economies, there are many aspects and dimensions of India-China relations. He said, “The steps taken to normalize the exchange among our people can definitely promote cooperation. It is also necessary in this context that restrictive business steps and obstacles are avoided. I hope these issues will be discussed in more detail. ”
India-China relations beneficial for the world
The Foreign Minister said that stable and creative relations between India and China are beneficial not only for both sides, but for the whole world. He said, “This is possible only by handling the relationship on the basis of mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity.” He said, “Even before we have agreed that the differences should not be changed in controversy nor should we take the form of competition struggle. On this basis, we can now move our relationships in the right direction. ”
