Only after the success of Gupta, Rajiv Rai came into the eyes of the underworld. Now he spoke openly about that era and told how he started getting threats from the underworld.
When Rajiv Rai came under target of underworld
In a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, director Rajiv Rai revealed that he was getting threatened to kill him from the underworld. During this time his office was also attacked. He talked about his scary experience in the 90s and said that when he complained about it, he was refused to take the call of the underworld and also gave CID training for security.
Problem started after secret
The director said- ‘The problem started after’ Gupta ‘. After Gupta, I did two films, which were not as expected, it was very disturbing for me. Then the next day a call came on my landline and someone demanded money from me. I said nothing. I immediately called the police and told about it. The police advised me not to talk. I had a recorder in my office and I recorded everything and sent it to the police. I talked four-five seconds and understood that something is wrong, so pretended that I am someone else.
When the office was attacked
While narrating his objection, Rajiv Rai further says- ‘The police asked me to take training from CID for their safety. I was attacked in 1997, all this happened in my office. He came with guns and bullets, but my bodyguards were there. When the bodyguard ran forward, he got scared. it was strange. Then after all these incidents, I left the country overnight and the UK shifted. I had pressure on me. My father was not well, I had to take care of him. They could not tolerate them. I felt that if something happened to me, who would take care of them. ‘
Son also thought
Rajiv Rai further said- ‘My son is autistic, I had to teach him, had to take care of him and were constantly getting threats. I had many reasons to leave the country. I thought now I should decide. The little money that God has given is enough. When I did not work for 20 years, I earned money from my old films. When I was attacked in my office, I took training. He used to teach how to change the car, keep an eye on the shoulder and much more. I also had permission to cross the red light, because when your car stops, they can shoot you. ‘
