New Delhi: If you are planning a trip in winter, then there is good news for you. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently announced the winter schedule. Indian airlines will operate more than 25,000 weekly flights from over 120 airports. The winter schedule begins from the last Sunday of October till the end of March. This year’s winter schedule is from October 27, 2024 till March 29, 2025. The number of flights has increased by 5.37 per cent compared to the winter schedule of 2023.

What are the shortest flight routes for winter in India?
- Alliance Air
Alliance Air runs on the shortest route between Itanagar and Ziro in the country. The route is operated by one Dornier 228 aircraft. It runs twice a week and covers a distance of 69 kilometres in 35 minutes.*
Note: *Block time is the total duration of a flight. It includes the time from when the plane pushes back from the gate at departure until it reaches the parking bay upon arrival.
Another shortest route for Alliance Air is between Kozhikode and Kochi, operated with the ATR 72-600. The 119 km are covered in 40 minutes.
Its smallest Airbus route is between Srinagar and Jammu, which is a distance of 145 km. - Air India

For this airline, Jammu and Srinagar are two of the shortest flight routes in winter. - Akasa Air
Another shortest route is between Guwahati and Agartala, which is approximately 154 km by Akasa Air. - Air India Express
This airline’s shortest domestic route is Mangalore from Kannur, which is 135 km (50 minutes). - Flybig’s shortest air route is a 140 km flight from Lucknow to Shravasti.
- IndiaOne Air’s shortest route is just 142 km between Jeypore and Vizag.
- Pune to SIndhudurg (flies 288 km long) is Fly91’s shortest flight.
- Star Air’s shortest air route is Hyderabad-Nanded at 246 km.
What are the longest flight routes for winter in India?
- Alliance Air’s longest ATR route is from Shirdi to Vijayawada, a 764 km flight (2 hours and 15 minutes).
For this airline, another longest route is from Bilaspur to Delhi, which is at a distance of 887 km. - For SpiceJet, the longest route is from Bagdogra to Mumbai at 1,794 km.

- The thrice-weekly Air India service from Bengaluru to San Francisco continues to be the longest international flight from India. It covers a distance of 13987 km in 16 hours and 20 minutes and returns in 18 hours as scheduled block time.
- The shortest international flight from India is operated by Druk Air, which travels 137 km from Bagdogra to Paro.
