Why do earthquakes occur?

Earthquake is one of the most terrible natural disasters in the Earth. This is a sudden process of moving the earth. Due to this, thousands of people can die in just a few seconds as well as great destruction. The earth mainly rests on tectonic plates. These plates slowly move. Large energy is produced when these plates collide, get trapped or suddenly vibrate. This energy shakes the ground as an earthquake.

Tibet’s largest earthquake

Tibet is extremely sensitive to earthquake. It falls in the Himalayan mountain range and the Indian plate collision area. Tibet has seen many terrible earthquakes in history. The largest earthquake occurred on 15 August 1950, called Assam-Tibeta Earthquake. Its intensity was measured 8.6 Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was located on the border of Tibet and Assam. It is considered the eighth most powerful earthquake in the world. The trend of rivers had changed, landslides and thousands of people lost their lives.
