Dot has blocked more than 4 crore SIM cards while taking major action on cybercrime. Apart from this, the Department of Telecommunications has also locked more than 19 lakh WhatsApp account. The Department of Telecommunications said in its post that 4.5 lakh mobile handsets have been blocked to stop cyber fraud. Apart from this, more than 19 lakh WhatsApp accounts have also been banned. Dot said that more than 74 thousand dealers selling SIM in bulk have been blacklisted. At the same time, 4.2 crore mobile connections have been banned.
The Department of Telecommunications said that more than 2 million mobile phones have been traced or lost in the country in collaboration with different agencies.
