DRDO handed over six strategic indigenous products to the Indian Navy.
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has handed over 6 important indigenous products to the Indian Navy. These devices will help in monitoring and safety with atomic, biological and chemical hazards. A special ceremony was held at Defense Laboratory in Jodhpur, where the Secretary of the Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO, the equipment formally handed over the equipment to ACNS (SSP) Rear Admiral Shriram Amur at Navy Headquarters.
6 indigenously designed products, Gama Radiation Aerial Surveillance System (Grass), Environmental Surveillance Vehicle (ESV), Vehicle Radiological Contemporary Monitoring Monitoring System (VRCMS), Underwater Gama Radiation Monitoring System (UGRMS), Dirt Extension and Cross Conversation Monitoring Monitoring System (Deccom) and Organ Radioactivity Detection System (Ords). These devices are designed and developed according to nuclear quality standards (NSQR).
Learn about the 6 indigenous equipment handed over to the Indian Navy-
- Gamma Radiation Aerial Surveillance System (Grass)- It identifies radiation through air monitoring. It helps to take stock of the situation after border areas or nuclear events.
- Environmental Surveillance Vehicle (ESV)- This vehicle has been designed to monitor radiation, chemical and biological hazards. It has state -of -the -art sensors.
- Vehicle radiological contemporary monitoring system (VRCMS)- The system examines radioactive contamination in military vehicles, ensuring operational security.
- Underwater Gamma Radiation Monitoring System (UGRMS)- This system is capable of detecting radiation within the sea. It will be used for marine environmental protection during Navy operations.
- Dirt Extractor and Cross Contentation Monitor (Deccom)- It also identifies the contamination along with cleanliness. It can be used on military base and ships.
- Organ Radioactivity Detection System (Ords)- It identifies the presence of radioactive elements in a soldier or person’s body.
Earlier, on 11 June, the DRDO and the Indian Air Force had successfully tested the Sukhoi-30 MK-I platform from the Odisha coast of the indigenous Beyond Visual Range Air-Ayar Missile (BVRAAM), armed with indigenous radio frequency (RF) Sikar.
